Charitable Trust / Introduction
The Trust was founded in 1978 to formalise the Group's charitable activities and to establish a formal governance structure. The Chief Executive Officer of the Group is currently Chairman of the Trustees, with remaining Trustees drawn from a representative cross-section of Group and business functions.
The Charitable Trust has independent status and the Trustees meet quarterly to discuss proposals. Other than in cases of acute and urgent need, UK corporate funds used for charitable contribution are channelled through the Trust.
Following a recent strategic review of the Trust's grant making activity, the Trust now focuses its support in the following areas:
-
1. Disadvantaged Youth
- Arts & Culture;
- Sport;
- Education; and
- Promoting Inclusion.
2. Literacy & Numeracy
-
3. Vulnerable Populations
- Elderly;
- Addiction;
- Homeless;
- Domestic Violence; and
- Mental Health.
4. Disaster Relief
In addition to its grant making activity the Trust also encourages Man Group employees to invest their time and expertise in charitable activities. The Trust will match up to an agreed limit charitable contributions that people within the Group make, via our sponsorship matching and Give As You Earn schemes.
The Trust's new community volunteering programme ManKind allows employees an additional two days paid leave per annum to volunteer either with a charity of their choice or with one of the charities currently supported by the Trust.
