Anthony Nolan Trust (£100,000)
The Anthony Nolan Trust, a charity that takes back lives from leukaemia received £100,000 as our Annual Charity for 2008/9.

The Anthony Nolan Trust saves lives by providing bone marrow donors for people suffering from leukaemia and a variety of other blood-related disorders. The Anthony Nolan Trust is the UK's most successful register with over 390,000 registered donors.

Our people took part in various volunteering and fundraising activities throughout the year bringing the total raised to over £200,000. These included:

  • A donor recruitment clinic held at our London office which resulted in 35 of our people joining the bone marrow donor register;
  • Man Group Sahara Trek challenge;
  • A number of employee fundraising events including a quiz night, dress down days, raffles and various sponsored runs throughout the year; and
  • An employee Awareness Day.

Teenage Cancer Trust (£25,000)
Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity devoted to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer, provides specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals. As well as state-of-the-art facilities to keep patients occupied during long stays in hospital, the units provide an environment where teenagers can meet others in a similar situation.

Prostate Project (£25,000)
The Prostate Project is an appeal to aid prostate cancer awareness, detection and treatment at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, St Luke's Cancer Centre, Frimley Park Hospital and clinical research at the University of Surrey.

RAFT (£25,000)
RAFT (The Restoration of Appearance & Function Trust) is a medical research charity which marries clinical need with scientific research, thus giving hope to countless patients whose lives have been devastated by burns, accidents, cancers and other skin traumas.

Richard House Children's Hospice (£20,000)
Richard House is a purpose-built children's hospice located in east London, providing respite and end-of-life care for children and young people between birth and 19 years of age who are not expected to live into adulthood.

Medicinema (£20,000)
Medicinema create purpose-built cinemas in hospitals to provide a much needed escape from the hospital ward for the patients. Each cinema is specially designed to cater for beds and wheelchairs, and nursing staff are on duty throughout every MediCinema screening.

Sparks (£20,000)
A donation of £20,000 was made to Sparks as runners-up in the final Annual Charity 2008 shortlist.

Wellbeing of Women (£25,000)
Wellbeing of Women raises money to invest in medical research and the development of specialist doctors and nurses working in the field of reproductive and gynaecological health.
